Southern Comfort Working Dogs operates a comfort dog program mentored by Freedom Labradors (New England-based). We are expanding this service to the South and currently operate from a temporary location while searching for a permanent facility.
Unlike Service Dogs and Police K9's, Comfort Dogs work to ease the trauma for individuals impacted by violence, tragedy, or traumatic events. We partner with schools, police and fire departments, and community events to provide emotional support services.
Our trained Labradors are deployed in settings including schools with School Resource Officers, first responder departments, and community events for mental health support and crisis de-escalation. Training includes AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy, AKC CGC (Canine Good Citizen), desensitization, and more!
Breeding & Companion Dogs
We offer health-tested breeding dogs with full DNA panel screening and OFA certifications. Our dogs are carefully bred for health, temperament, and workability.
All of our breeding dogs are fully health tested including a full DNA panel to ensure that they are free of any genetic diseases that the breed can carry, plus OFA hip and elbow X-rays.
